Goodbye, 2021
Somehow, 2021 seemed like the longest and shortest year of all time.
Looking back at each month, I can’t believe how much stuff we fit into these 365 days. But it all went so fast! I swear I just wrote this same post, like, last month about 2020.
Still, this year was big for a number of reasons. Instead of listing “10 takeaways” like last year, I recounted (and added pics!) of the highlights from each month. And there were so, so many. Enjoy!
Quick side note: 2021 included my winter and spring semesters of 2L (virtual), a summer internship at Hanscom Air Force Base (in person), and fall semester of 3L (on campus & in Massachusetts courtrooms).
JANUARY
Ben turned 30 (!!!) and I took Trial Advocacy, the most influential law school class to date. Even “won” my first judge-alone trial - very fun 👩⚖️
FEBRUARY
Got to see my best AF girlfriends, meet my bestie’s boyfriend, and see her new place in Ohio! While there I was also inducted into my high school’s athletic Hall of Fame 🏃♀️
MARCH
Birthday month!! I turned 27 in a VERY sweet surprise celebration from hubs, we got our first COVID shot, and took a nice spring break trip to the Keys. The best 😍
APRIL
FULLY VACCINATED BABY!!!!!!!!! Felt on top of the world & like the end of COVID was in sight (cute of me, I know). Also finished my tenure on Zoom School of Law (again - temporarily). These shots are from the last day of class - all I got for April!
MAY
My brother got married in Colorado (woohoo!), we took a trip to NYC (and saw the 9/11 Memorial - cried my eyes out) AND I got my best law school grades to date. Not a huge deal, but it was a nice vote of confidence heading into my summer internship 😏
JUNE
Celebrated our 4-yr wedding anniversary and my in-laws visited Massachusetts! We went to the Isabella Stuart Gardner museum, one of the coolest Boston experiences to date.
JULY
Ben and I took our first trip to Treehouse, the brewery of my dreams. It’s an hour outside Boston buuuuut we were back by the end of the month 🍻 Also did Fourth of July on the Cape, hung out with many friends, and hot yoga started up again - basically, I’ve never been happier!
AUGUST
I finished my internship and prepped for my third and final year of law school - back on campus! Also took (and passed!) my ethics exam and snuck in a quick trip to Minnesota 🥰
SEPTEMBER
Saw some of my best law school friends for the first time in 18 months 🥺 and officially kicked off wedding season!
OCTOBER
The best month of trips, weddings, and engagements. Plus, crushed my first few days in court AND created the most epic Elle Woods Halloween costume - if I do say so myself 😏
NOVEMBER
One of my besties announced she’s pregnant (!!!!!!), my parents came to visit, and we did several fun Veteran’s Day events! Can’t wait to become Auntie Riley in summer ‘22 ❤️
DECEMBER
Finished classes, finished finals, good boosted, took a Christmas trip to Florida & rounded out the year with friends in Boston ✨ Cheers cheers cheers!
